Why do cars weigh more than bikes? The BJP’s “gibberish” remark is derived from Rahul Gandhi’s analogy.

Gandhi attempted to explain the weight disparity to students at EIA University in Envigado, Colombia, but BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya brushed it off as “gibberish.”

Gandhi asked the students an interesting question: “A car requires 3,000 kg of metal to carry one passenger, whereas a motorbike that weighs 100 kg can carry two passengers.” Therefore, why does a car require 3,000 kg of metal to carry two passengers while a motorbike can do so with 150 kg?

The Congress MP responded to his own query by relating it to the shift to electric mobility and vehicle safety.

According to him, a motorcycle’s engine separates from the rider during an accident, making it lighter than a car’s engine, which “kills the driver on impact.” When a motorbike is hit, the engine separates from the rider. Thus, you are not harmed by the engine. When an automobile is hit, the engine starts up. Gandhi stated, “The car is made to prevent you from dying from the engine.”

He went on to say that by distributing power among several smaller motors as opposed to a single engine, electric mobility could address this “problem.” “You can put a motor there, and there, and there with an electric motor.” Thus, the electric motor represents a decentralised power structure. That’s actually how effective it is,” he continued.

But the BJP swiftly criticised Gandhi’s comments. The head of the party’s IT cell, Amit Malviya, ridiculed the explanation on X (formerly Twitter).
