“A passenger approached the cockpit entry area while looking for the lavatory,” according to a statement from Air India Express.

On Monday, there was a panic when a passenger on an Air India Express flight from Bengaluru to Varanasi allegedly attempted to open the cockpit door in midair. According to a statement from the airline, the individual had never flown before and “approached the cockpit entry area while looking for the lavatory.”
A representative for Air India Express stated, “We reaffirm that robust safety and security protocols are in place and were not compromised.” The incident was reported to the appropriate authorities upon arrival and is still being investigated.
According to information obtained, the incident happened on Air India Express flight IX-1086. The first-time flyer was the one who attempted to open the cockpit door. He claimed that he believed it was the same door and that he did so because he wanted to use the loo. However, after the crew told him that he had tried to unlock the cockpit door, he returned calmly, a source told HT. According to protocol, he was turned over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
According to an article in the Economic Times, the passenger “even entered the correct passcode” for the cockpit door, but the pilot prevented him from entering because he was “fearing a hijack.” HT was unable to independently confirm this information.
This incident occurred the day after a passenger’s boarding permit was stamped for plane entry but the crew discovered the passenger wasn’t on board, causing an Air India flight from London to Delhi to be delayed.
According to the airlines, the unidentified individual never boarded the aircraft and instead strolled off to the arrivals area.
A two-hour delay resulted from the jet having to return to the gate before to takeoff after it had begun backing up from the boarding area.
